Government benefits specifically for veterans with service-related conditions

War Pension Scheme

Compensation for illness or injury caused or made worse by service in HM Armed Forces before 6 April 2005.

Eligibility: Veterans with service-related illness or injury (pre-2005 service)

Armed Forces Compensation Scheme (AFCS)

Compensation for injury or illness caused by service on or after 6 April 2005.

Eligibility: Veterans with service-related illness or injury (post-2005 service)

Armed Forces Independence Payment (AFIP)

Tax-free payment for veterans with serious injuries from service. Similar to PIP but without regular assessments.

Eligibility: Veterans receiving Guaranteed Income Payment at 50% or higher under AFCS

Personal Independence Payment (PIP)

Help with extra living costs if you have a long-term physical or mental health condition or disability.
